Synopsis:

In a desolate countryside, a lonely farmer invites a pale, reluctant soldier into his home for lunch. As the meal unfolds, the farmer's wife grows suspicious of the guest's trembling hands and evasive attitude. When the lights go out, so does the illusion of safety, and a shared spoon may seal everyone's fate. Disregarded Danger is a slow-burn thriller about trust, denial, and the quiet horror of human vulnerability.

A word from the director:

Thrillers, as a genre, have always fascinated me. Not just for its affinity for tension and adrenaline, but for the scope for the exploration of the cracks in human behaviour under pressure. With this short film, we set out to explore that idea; how ordinary people can be pushed into extraordinary, and sometimes terrifying, decisions when faced with fear, uncertainty, or desperation.

This story came from a simple question: What can seemingly innocent people be pushed to do under extreme circumstances? From there, the concept evolved into a psychological game of perception, a narrative where the line between truth and illusion is constantly shifting. We wanted the audience to feel off-balance and uneasy, and to question what it is that they're seeing, and to live inside the same unknown as the characters.

As a student filmmaker, creating this project was both a technical and emotional challenge. Building suspense with limited time and resources meant relying heavily on the power of suggestion. Every shadow, silence, and cut was deliberate. Our goal was to keep viewers on edge, not with spectacle, but with a slow, creeping tension that builds until it breaks.

At its heart, this film is about control, the loss, gain and fear of such; the lengths people go to reclaim it. I'm incredibly proud of what our team achieved in bringing that idea to life, and I hope the experience of watching it is as gripping as it was to make.

Thank you for stepping into the dark with us.
